A
little bit about me...
“The
grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do,
something to love, and something to hope for.”
Addison
I am a psychotherapist,
a licensed marriage and family therapist and a board-certified music and
expressive arts therapist. I have worked in the field of therapy for 23
years. As a therapist, I believe strongly in the resiliency of the human
spirit, that healing can and does happen and that understanding, increased
self- awareness and forgiveness are at the core of change, growth and
personal transformation.
An integration of
life experience, personal and professional development, a solid educational
foundation and a deep desire to support others on their individual paths
toward wholeness inform the work that I do and allow me to bring many
facets of myself into the therapy relationship.
My journey has included
active participation and influence from the human potential movement of
the 70’s, formal education, training and employment in music therapy
and other expressive arts therapies in the 80’s, more intensified,
focused and comprehensive study and practice of psychology and relationship
in the 90’s, and currently, as a seasoned clinician, an opportunity
to continually expand my knowledge base, intuitive understanding and therapeutic
skills.
I received a Bachelor
of Science (BS) in Music Therapy from the University of the Pacific in
1983 and worked as an expressive arts therapist and psychiatric rehabilitation
therapist in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings for 16 years.
In 1993, I completed a Master of Arts (MA) degree in clinical psychology
from the Professional School of Psychology in San Francisco. My license
as
a Marriage and Family Therapist was awarded in 1999, following years of
additional training and experience. Since that time, I have developed
a private practice where I see individuals, couples and families, specializing
in relationship issues, couples therapy, marriage preparation, grief and
loss, life transitions and personal empowerment.
